Maya Set Idea:

My set is set in the mountains. It will be an old fortress built into a mountain. A large semi circle balcony will be the only visible part of the fortress from the outside. The balcony will open up, as you enter the mountain, into a large carved out room. The room is circular and a semi circle wall/balcony lays in the back (facing the balcony). Half-way between the wall and the balcony (in the center of the room) is a strange tower/door/statue/table/orb/sacrificing stone/hole/still working on this part. Patterns on the floor extend symmetrically in all directions from this center point. Random things are scattered around. Things like tables, weapons, equipment, etc. The wall is intricately carved. And the balcony above the wall is filled with seating(benches). A doorway in the middle of the wall leads to a set of stair heading downward. This place feels like an old and important place. No one has been here for a long time. The wind is constantly blowing in from the balcony, making staying here unpleasant. The walls have tapestries hanging that look surprisingly in great condition still. Being in this place is uncomfortable and a sense of something/someone very powerful knows you are here... maybe even watching you. A glowing light coming from the pattern on the floor is the only thing lighting the area, this pattern also extends up and onto the wall.

Interactive Experience #3

My 3rd interactive experience is about fishing. My favorite part of fishing is how subtle it can be. First off I am not good at fishing, but its relaxing and still very rewarding when I do catch something. I like being out side near the water and seeing/hearing the fish jump. Then barely noticing the nibbles and finally a bite. THE BIG MOMENT. Did you put that worm on right? Did you use the right sized hook/line/etc? You will find you soon. Of course the best part is when you catch something and then prepare it and eat it. Yum. Good stuff.

Interactive Experience #2

My 2nd interactive experience is about Metal. Specifically Metal shows/concerts. Metal (ie Slayer, Lamb of God, Pantera, Children of Bodom, Static X.... etc) by it self is AWESOME.... but going to a metal show is an experience of its own. This last summer i got to go see Mudvayne and Static X in eugene... I listened to these bands mostly back in high school and went to see them for that reason. The energy at this show was unreal. Everyone is moving, jumping, yelling, singing, fighting, running, crowd surfing, and "moshing". One second you find yourself fighting for your spot, and the next your being picked up and tossed over everyone. Not to mention the music is blaring and you will probably be half deaf the next day. Good stuff.

Interactive Experience #1

My first interactive experience is anytime I rock climb. Rock climbing can be as challenging and difficult as you want it too be and its always fun. Often I climb at the climbing gym and this offers its own experience's. The feeling of finally finishing a route or even a single move sometimes, is awesome! In the rock gym I always feel relaxed. The music blaring, people falling off the wall around me, the smell of.... everyone lol. I tend to lose track of time there. Climbing also takes alot of focus and determination to progress and finish routes. Good stuff.

So I learned that we were supposed to have a theme for a reason. I only seem to be able to draw when my brain/hands/whatever wants too. So some days I could... others I couldn't. So i guess my theme is "My best 26 doodles" and most of my dingbats are of a "Space" theme. Some are better than others, some still need colored. Some are meant to be animated (ie the explosion and smoke). Anyways... Here they are:

So then we were supposed to make collage's.... since my theme was super random the collage's were kinda difficult. The first two use every symbol... the third uses the space oriented ones mainly. Enjoy... if you can. :)

Slow Progress.... in Blender this time.

Im currently learning two different 3d modeling programs this term. Maya and Blender. Im not sure which one I like more. They both have pros and cons. Blenders biggest pro is that its free. My only experience with 3d modeling before this is about 4 days of 3ds max back in early high school. Where did i put the mountain dew?

I have always considered photographers that could take those crystal clear stop motion pictures of water and bullets through an apple a notch above me on imaginary photographers ranking scale. (wow long sentance) So last night I was bored and didnt want to do homework so i decided to give it a shot. First I washed the pile of dishes that had collected in our sink and around the appartmet, then I cleaned the sink and surrounding area till it was shinny. Next i filled up the sink with water and set up my camera. Here is a rough set up of how it looked:

When I got it set up I realized I needed more light, I had already turned on every light in the room and opened the window. I looked everywhere for a lamp or something... no luck. I really wanted to shoot at 1/500 shutter speed because after some research on the web about this that is what seemed normal. But with my aperture open as wide as possible my camera still didnt wanna take it at 1/500. so i adjusted it so the camera was happy which ended up being 1/320. Then i started taking shots of the drip, first by pouring water out of a glass and then by squeezing a sponge which was alot easier to aim with. I took about 50 shots and this is the best one I cam up with:

I plan on redoing this shot as soon as I can figure out a better lighting situation. Stay tuned.

I found this huge collection of some of the best wallpapers the web has to offer ATM. A few of these I have used in the past, and it was cool to see them make this list. I think I found this page through Digg. (Click picture or HERE to see more)

I didnt submit to DPchallenge this week, mostly because I didnt like the challenges (odd, even). This weeks challenges are Healthy foods and Sepia. I got a great idea for the healthy foods one so stay tuned.

Picturing the Other

So I admit that this picture does not qualify as a PTO picture, mostly because i already knew this person, but i thought it was hilarious so I included it. "Let me see your GRILL!"

This picture is more PTO acceptable. I was walking around Ashland and saw these guys long boarding and asked if i could take there picture. I decided this picture didn't count 100% as a PTO because they are not very different from me as far as age or race... but this exercise was mainly to get us to get pictures of people we don't know right?

So if there was a PTO picture that truly is following the guidelines of the assignment, it would be this one. When i walked up to this woman, she was half way through a cig and didn't look like she was having the best day. I introduced myself and told her about the assignment. She allowed me to take her picture. Yet this isnt the picture i wanted. Once i had permission to take her picture i felt like i needed to hurry and get it done, I could tell she was kinda shy and not sure why her picture was being taken. If i could do it again i would have changed angles so the sun wasn't casting that nasty shadow across her face, I would also try to get a more candid shot of her puffin on that cig. But this is what i got. BTW this was taken in Medford and this was the first person i encountered on the street that day. She was the only one that made eye contact with me and allowed me to engage her in conversation. I was trying to establish contact with the other people on the street but i couldn't even get eye contact. I don't know if it was the SOU hoodie i had on or that combined with the giant camera in my had that made people so cold to me. In general i think it was Medfords contempt for Ashland is what made this assignment difficult in downtown Medford.
